Architectural Design II (MArch 3), the second of a three-semester sequence of core design studios, expands the scope of architectural issues, programmatic complexity and physical context introduced in the previous semester. Emphasis will be placed on the building envelope and its relationship to interior space and the exterior public domain. The studio will also focus on the consideration of the neighboring context as a construct of other building envelopes which contribute to the making of city streets and squares. Evaluations will be based on students' participation in discussions, pin-ups, presentations, and desk crits. Work will be required in all media, including graphic and written presentation drawings, models and photographs.
